The Department of Health is seeking talented and experienced executives to join its senior leadership team. On offer are three challenging, dynamic leadership roles, putting you at the forefront of science & technology.
Head, Scientific Evaluation Branch, TGA – Canberra ACT
The Scientific Evaluation branch in the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) comprises about 80 staff and is responsible for approving applications to market biologicals (cell and tissue products) and generic medicines in Australia, and also provides scientific input to decisions made to register new prescription medicines.
Head, Medical Devices Authorisation Branch, TGA – Canberra ACT
The Medical Devices Authorisation Branch in the TGA comprises about 90 staff and is responsible for the assessment and approval of medical devices for supply in Australia through clinical, engineering and scientific evaluation of submissions to the TGA. The branch is also leading a number of significant regulatory and business transformation initiatives.
Head, Industrial Chemicals Branch, OCS – Sydney NSW
The Office of Chemical Safety (OCS), comprising approximately 95 staff, aids in the protection of the Australian people and the environment by administering the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS). OCS’ outputs inform decisions made by a wide range of Commonwealth and state government agencies involved in regulating the control, use, release and disposal of industrial chemicals.
To be a strong contender for these important roles you will need to be forward-thinking, self-motivated, resilient, and adept at building relationships in a large, complex and fast-paced environment. You bring extensive management experience at a senior executive level. You will be experienced in providing strategic leadership and direction and building the capability of your team and the organisation more broadly, with an ability to focus on enabling and nurturing people and relationships to ensure an inclusive and collaborative approach, where people are supported to deliver to the best of their ability.
The successful applicants will be comfortable in leading and managing large multidisciplinary teams of scientific or technical staff, with an understanding of regulatory requirements or the ability to develop them.
Applicants with desirable tertiary qualifications in science or engineering or risk assessment are encouraged to apply. You may have a background in federal or state government regulation or a background from the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device or chemical industry.
These are critical senior appointments, and the remuneration packages will therefore be structured to attract and retain outstanding appointees.
